  1. thanks for trying to convince us naive asshole fuckers out here that Ron Bloom is a genius legendary cool rocker guy and has only the most honorable intentions in his current business venture…. podcasting.
but, i am not convinced that the Bloom-Curry Podshow marketing business is about promoting the success and greatness of the ordinary little guy podcaster. i haven’t bought that bullshit propaganda from the beginning and still don’t. it’s about a couple of media personalities and executives jumping on a hot commodity, spinning hype in their direction and successfully pitching to their network of investors some ideas for how to capture the potential for astronomical profits in reaping the benefits of the creative talents of the podcasters. [hmmmm, sound anything like how the big label record industry works?]
i don’t know about the other members of the (elitist?) group called ‘podsquad’ because i lost interest in those particular shows long ago, but The Rock And Roll Geek Show hasn’t found it’s success because Bloom & Curry have cultivated and nurtured your show or controlled your content….. it’s you and your show’s producer who have made RnRGS rich with marketable content and charm attractive to venture capitalists. i suppose that the PodShow thing has brought you some sponsors, but with a little bit of effort you could get those on your own. and btw, i will say that i cringe every time i hear those annoying PodShow radio-style sweepers and IDs on the RnRGS…. do you run those because you like them or because the PodShow management wants/tells you to run them?

anyway, my question/concern isn’t about who has control of content, but rather how long will it be until you and your production staff reap financial rewards for YOUR talent and efforts? my guess is that it’ll be long after the Curry-Bloom connection begins enjoying the financial rewards of their harvest. how long will it take for some revenue to trickle down to RnRGS?

so, please, spare us listeners all the PodShow promotional propaganda and just geek out and give us a real rock and roll podcast show. ‘k, Michael?

  2. I personally like the interview. It was cool to hear his background in music and film. There always is going to be someone making more money than the rest of us, that’s just the way it is.

Bulter I know like the rest of the listeners that your gonna do what’s right for you and the show! Just keep on rocking us out with the killer Rock N’ Roll and educating us at the same time! This truely is the School of Rock!

  3. Whoah!

Well put, donna! I agree with your wholeheartedly.

    To quote donna:

“…how long will it be until you and your production staff reap financial rewards for YOUR talent and efforts?”

A while back, over at podcastalley.com, I read how Adam managed to secure $7 million dollors in investment capital. I thought of you Michael and hoped Adam would share the wealth with you rather than spend it all on planes, pot and botox treatments for his wife.

  4. Wendy and Donna, I appreciate your concerns. It is really nice that you care about me not getting ripped off. I have been doing this for free for a long time and I think anyone would have done the same thing as me.
No matter what your opinion is of him, Adam isn’t jumping on a bandwagon, he pretty much created podcasting.

  5. This was the perfect episode to create a debate. I am glad the episode was Aired.
This interview should have taken place months ago when Podshow was a huge dabate for podcasters and listners. Ron was flat out with the Podshow venture, so scheduling was a problem.
This episode draws to the heart of what RRGS is about. Everyone has a voice on this Show, that is the way it will stay.
Here is a trivia question for you all.
How many songs did Ron Bloon write or co-write?
I suggest you listen to the interview a second time, because MB got alot of information from this interview.
How many questions did RB ask MB in this chat?
    shanechis@hotmail.com
Do some research people, you maybe surprised with what you find.

I love the fact that Donna and Wendy are open and honest, MB does not censor that.

  6. AC is one_of_a_few_people who pretty much created podcasting.
beginning back in 2000 or 2001, trying to develop technology to ‘cast video. i even remember a post AC made on his weblog back in those early days where he likens himself to the lead singer of a tech band. AC isn’t the sole father of podcasting a myth he strives to propagate.
then, a wall was hit for some reason and the project stalled. it was the recent popularity of the personal MP3 player that facilitated podcasting. AC said in one of his own podcasts that he jump on the opportunity to call Bloom to get this thing spinning. and, spin it their way AC has done this last several months.

whatever our disagreement on this, i wish only the best for you and RnRGS, Michael. really, i do.

  7. yeah, Michael, you’re right….. it is more of a difference of perspective/opinion than a disagreement.
lol, but, see how wound up ya got me by doing a promotional show for your parent company and busting on listeners who may be skeptical and question PodShow’s primary motivations & intentions?… guess i forgot for a moment that you and Bloom were only having fun with us assholes out here 😉 :p

anyway, looking forward to the next episode of RnRGS 🙂
