yeah, good to see some old classic videos, but the banter *is* rather entertaining and even refreshingly engaging, at times. found myself talking back to you guys as i watched :)…

i believe Steve Vai was something like 18-years old when he went to work for Frank Zappa. Zappa hired Vai to transcribe his music because Zappa didn’t know how to write down his musical compositions. Vai had acquired that knowledge/skill. somewhere along the way, Frank invited Steve to play with his band.
also, i’m pretty sure that Vai had some involvement with Dweezil’s ‘Zappa Plays Zappa’ tour.
about Billy Sheehan… could it be that he “wears a necklace” because he is a perfectionist technical-driven bass player rather than an emotion-driven stylistic bass player? methinks that Vai requires his band to be very technically proficient.
one more thought…. maybe you could’ve replaced the CJ Sleeze video with Van Halen’s Panama Red video? 😉
