  2. On the night that got Constantine eliminated, Simon called his performance “a very bad imitation of the original”. So, Michael, since you consider Simon the ultimate musical authority, you have to agree with him that Constantine sucks and was eliminated for all the right reasons. Simon also said that Constantine is no rocker and should go back to “crooning”. It seems that you, Michael, is a very bad judge of who is or is not talented.

    Thanks for trying to appoligize for your inflamatory comments about Scott & Anthony. The appology would have been more sincere if it was not followed by some of the not so nisce comments you have made here in reply to other peoples posts.

    I really do believe that Constantine will be around to entertain us for many years to come and that he will have much success. It was not very nice to say his only fan base is from American Idol.
    I think that the AI show only brought him to a larger audience and allowed more people to view his performance and open thjeir hearts to him along with their wallets, I for one have never gone to an AI concert before 2004 and I went to 2 back to back shows in Syracuse NY. I only went to see Constantine, vonzell and was hopeful to see Bo Bice.

    American Idol is a machine that brings us entertainers and hopefully talent. I never liked Reuben and thought Clay should have won, and if you look at the numbers he appears to have won indeed and I think that Constantine will do the same thing.

    I think Constantine was eliminated because he wasn’t able to be molded by AI, he would sing the songs, do the group numbers and then he performed the music his way, and even had a stage personality and was not afraid to wear eye liner and mascara (and I thoght he looked mmmgood), after all he was a stage performer before American Idol.

    I do not think he is gay, not that their is anything wrong with that. I think that being a graduate of the Boston Conservatory he was able to find work in plays or productions that may not have been mainstream.

    Even though not popular topics he was able to perform well and be proud of the work he had done.

    Can you always say that you are proud of what you have said or done in your career? I know that I can not say that I have no regrets. But I also would not say mean and tasteless things about the other members of the American idol top 10, just to try and make your guest feel uncomfortable and try to bait him into saying mean and thoughtless things in order to please you and shortchange himself.

    The whole point I was trying to make to you is that you started out doing a nice thing by appologizing to constantine and then you worked in your little mean streak when you were replying to comment made about your interview.

A weekly average of 28 million people had watched American Idol while INXS was watched by a weekly average of 3 million. 28 million is an impressive number and they could only be watching AI because they didn’t think it sucked. AI must have done something right to be the No. 1 show….sorry, can’t say the same for INXS.

  12. You know when I say I HATE my friends for being able to go and watch Constantine in concerts, I don’t really mean I hate them. What I mean when I hate them is I kinda envy them and so I kinda understand if Con said the others hate him. It’s a figure of speech that implies there was envy which is a very common human trait and I’m sure the other finalists are human beings because if a normal human being doesn’t feel a tinge of jealousy, they must either be robots or perfect. But that feeling need not be destructive, it can be healthy because it makes us examine ourselves and see if there are areas in our lives that need improving. So, at the end of the day, it propels us to better ourselves as we begin to desire and emulate those traits we see in the people we envy. Besides, we know there is no such thing as a perfect human being. Like JD said, human beings are just being human.

You could have been polite, instead you tried to stir hard feelings between Constantine and the other Idols. If anyone is gay it is probably you for even bringing it up. Your DJ skills suck! and so does your show. You have no class!

    Constantine at least has talent and manners, and will go far. Where will you be in a few years. Probably still doing the geek thing…if you are lucky……

  16. I really liked the interview. It was very entertaining. I thought you really pushed Con and he went with it. He is a very cool guy that will go far. I didn’t see anything wrong with Michael having his comments. For gods sake it was funny. All the little teen…and con haters have just come out to make fun of every little detail. I could see where Micheal could have really gotten to Con. He was very smart and answered very well. Makes me want to listen to the show more often. I love greekboy….and very proud of his comments. I didn’t like scott or anthony.

I was sorry to hear about all of the backlaskh he got stemming from the interview because he didn’t derserve that.   21. Ummatur? What the hell is ummatur? Did anyone notice that most of the Con-bashers have bad spelling and poor grammar? Idiots. (Hey Michael, AI is NOT Con’s entire fan base. Ever hear of Pray for the Soul of Betty? Yeah, you have. DJs tend to be jealous wannabes who will manipulate and bash musicians as much as they can. I know, I worked at radio stations throughout my 20s). Cry and whine all you want for the sake of Anthony and Scott. The fact is, Constantine IS more popular than they are (or ever will be) because he has more talent. Case in point, at the AI show, people were sitting, yawning, and taking potty breaks during Anthony’s and Scott’s performances. When Con came out, the entire arena was on their feet and screaming. Why? Because he kicks their asses. It takes more than just being able to sing to be an artist. You have to have presence; something Anthony and Scott lack severely. Anthony and Scott are karaoke-level performers, at best. I heard someone say, when the Idols were signing autographs, “There! I met Constantine, that’s all I care about!” As soon as Con was gone, the crowd dissipated almost immediately. Leave him the hell alone. If you don’t like him, don’t buy his stuff. Get a life and stop hating on him. And when he defends himself, no matter what he says, it isn’t going to be good enough for you. He is not a puppet. He is entitled to his opinions and his feelings without having to explain everything he says/does. His job is not to coddle Anthony and Scott…or their fans. If anyone needs to get a thicker skin, it’s you whiners who can’t handle someone with an opposing opinion. Oh, and before I get accused of being a teeny-bopper or a middle-aged woman who fantasizes about being with a younger man… I’m not. I’m a week younger than Con. *awaits the dim-witted, superficial insults*

  22. The problem with media today is that if anyone halfway decent wants to get some kind of recognition they have to “sell out” to the likes of American Idol. They have to fit the mold and if they don’t, then they’re screwed.

    I worked in commercial radio for three years and have seen some really good acts go unnoticed and some really bad ones go way farther than they should. If it wasn’t for the internet, we would be stuck with the generic voice-tracked, Pro-Tools DJ’s and boy-band/rap crap CHR shoves down our throats.

    I like your show, but as a former dj, it was wrong for you to try and bait Constantine with the questions about Scott, Anthony, and being gay. I worked with guys that would do this and had NO respect for them. Your opinion is fine, but don’t try to get the person on the other end up a creek.

    The guy’s a badass with a ton of potential.
    Check out pray for the soul of betty for instance. He’s done his homework and is a force live on the stage with the band.

  24. When I first read Constantines post I had no idea what was going on..until today after listening to the interview. I did not hear Constantine bash Scott or Anthony..I think the fans of Scott and Anthony are just mad because Constantine didn’t stick up for them which he shouldn’t have to..everyone should know what the Idols meant to him..he loves them. I think all you haters need to back off Constantine..the man is great and will go far. To Constantine if you read this I love you so much..don’t pay attention to the negativity baby, you are AWESOME!!!!!!

  25. Man… Michael Butler does a fine job with a podcast show for over a year and never sees a bit of negative whiny posts… then suddenly he does a show with Constantine and everybody starts ragging.

    Michael isn’t a “DJ” as you all claim him to be. He’s a rocker who happens to offer a podcast radio show where he can talk about things that interest him… and to people who he thinks might interest you.

    Give him a break and lay off both he and his guest. It’s a podcast for God’s sake… not mainstream radio. There are no rules here, let it be.

  26. Why would constantine say most of the idols HATED him on the show and tour then turn around and say they were his family? I guess there is bound to be some jealousy when one gets so much attention as he did from all those panting women. All had their own fan base which idolized each of them, but it was like pitting them against each other for applause, etc. at the tour. But thats life and how it works. I’ve always felt he was his own biggest admirer but thats my opinion. I think acting is a better genre for him then singing. I wish him luck.

  27. Constantine couldn’t pay to get this much publicity – and getting noticed is great, even if it’s bad press. I listened to the interview and I don’t think Connie said anything bad. He didn’t defend Scott and Anthony as much as he usually did, but why should he? I’ve listened to all his interviews and he’s always been complimentary about his fellow Idols, and the one time he doesn’t rush to their defense, he gets this. People need to grow up. If you are really a fan of Constantine’s, then you will support him, not look for opportunities to bash him. The truth is, Constantine got a lot of attention. If some of the other Idols were jealous of that, that’s not his problem. The fans need to realize that the season of American Idol is over. The winner is pre-picked by Simon way ahead of time, so the rest of the people just put in their time until the “winner” is picked. You’re wasting your time if you vote, but that’s okay – because AI gave us Constantine. Even though Simon didn’t want him on the show, he got on there anyhow and I think the guy has a great career ahead of him. Go, Connie. Laugh your way all the way to the bank!

  28. Go, Connie! I’m not a middle-aged woman. I’m 27 years old and I love Constantine. If the other Idols are jealous of him, that’s not his problem. Most of them bored me to tears and when I went to the summer concert, people left in droves when the “winner” got on stage. But the entire arena was on its feet when our Connie came out. Last time I looked, he was the only Idol who has a tv sitcom in the works and is touring. People, the competition is over. Simon picked the winner before the show ever ran and now it’s time for him to pick another one. Meanwhile, I support Constantine in whatever he does. I can’t wait for the new season of AI to start so you people can start bashing the new contestants.

  33. Okay, I’ve been silent till now, trying not to get involved. I’m a diehard Anthony fan, but I’ve beem trying to hold on to the belief that this was solely Michael’s fault. However, two things have been changing my views: the posts Connie made after this interview, and his fans. Marissa, the other idols are not jealous of Con, and people did not “leave in droves” when anyone came on. Oh, and why are you expecting us to bash contestants next year? You’re the one who seems to spite everyone but your fav. And Con, what is up with saying the other idols hate you? And because they got less from their fans than you on top of that? Nobody hates you, and you did not get more from your fans than any of the other idol contestants. So deal with that. With all that said, Con has been my second favorite idol for a long time now. I love the way he sings, and I think he left the show too soon. Therefore, I do agree that all this is mostly caused by Michael, who obviously wouldn’t recognize talent if it slapped him across the face (which someone should do, btw). The comments he made were screwed up, and it’s sad that people are allowed to put crap like his show on the air when there are so many good podcasts in the world. Oh, and btw, I know you already know this Michael, but Constantine himself was votefortheworst.com’s first choice. Again, this is just proof they share your quality of having no musical taste. So the point is, Michael is an a*s, and Con needs to deal with his issues and get a clue. Okay, now you can all flame me however much you like. I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut any longer.   34. Caitlin, You’re entitled to your opinion, but the show I went to this summer – people were on their feet for Constantine and Bo the most. When Anwar introduced Con, he didn’t even get his name out before everyone started screaming. Women were rushing the stage and throwing panties, and I thought I was going to get trampled by the woman sitting beside me. When Bo came out, it sounded like thunder. When Carrie came out, a lot of people sat down, some went to the bathroom, and some people just left early to beat the traffic home. Personally, I thought everyone did a great job. I thought they were all much better in person than they were on the AI show, but to say that Constantine doesn’t get more attention is baloney. I like most of the Idols, but I don’t think they all have charisma and star quality and that they will make it in the business. The show is over for this season. People are still bashing contestants who weren’t their favorites. I didn’t bash anybody. I merely said that people left in droves when Carrie came out, and they did. I hope Constantine shuts down his website, and I hope he stops trying to set the record straight, because people want to believe the worst about him and will twist everything he says. He was defending himself, but nobody wants to see that. He needs to get on with his career and stop talking to the fans who don’t appreciate anything he has to offer.

I listened to the interview and did not hear Constantine say anything that was arrogant, inappropriate or disrespectful to the other AI contestants. The AI show IS a competition, and the competition IS over. So if he did have anything negative to say, so what!! It did not help that the DJ was trying to bait him. No matter what he says there will always be someone ready to twist it and turn it into something negative. Constantine is talented and has acquired a large fan base. I think in time we see that Constantine will excell above and beyond the others. As far as Constantine’s response to all the negative coments, I think that he is such a nice guy that these comments hurt him and he was just speaking from his heart and telling it like it is. Constantine appeals to all ages and that says something positive about him. I am tired of hearing that only middle aged women like him. So what, there are many sexy, vivacious middle aged women out there. Being middle aged is not a negative thing.
